Held in May each year this is one of Australia’s most iconic free Music Festivals. In 2015 the event delivered 22 outdoor stages and venues and over 60 artists. Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival is a celebration of music and its ability to take over an entire city. The Festival is a feast for music lovers who fly in from all over Australia. It is a musical experience like no other with a mix of international Blues performers, Australian celebrities and home-grown local talent delivered for free. In 2015 some 127,000 people attended the event with 60 bands delivering 144 free live performances. The financial impact it delivers to the community in 2015 was $18.65 million and 98% of this was spent directly on the Gold Coast. Set in a low time for tourism, this boost to the community also bought in 109,000 room nights, with 127,000 festival attendees. The event also supports emerging talent with approx 25% of artists being local, and in a partnership with Griffith University it delivers a Schoolyard Blues Program – giving seven high school bands from the Gold Coast the opportunity to perform at a world class festival and receive mentoring from national artists.
