The Gold Coast Music Awards has announced the inaugural Gold Coast Music Prize, a new initiative that will provide career-propelling opportunities for one established local artist each year, helping to accelerate their career and take their creative gold to the national stage and beyond.
“For five years now we’ve been completely floored by the amazing achievements of under-the-radar Gold Coast artists and we really wanted to do something to help people take their careers to the next level,” said Gold Coast Music Awards director, Chloe Popa.
“It’s a career-defining prize for one Gold Coast artist or group and it will be highly curated based on where they’re at in their career and what our judging panel thinks they’d most benefit from.
“Every artist who nominates themselves for a Gold Coast Music Award is automatically considered for the Gold Coast Music Prize and we’re so thrilled to have Bleach* The Gold Coast Festival, as our partner for this first-ever offering on the Gold Coast.”
With the winner announced at the beachfront gala event on 30 April, this incredible prize includes support from Bleach* The Gold Coast Festival, and several other genre-specific Awards partners, as well as marketing and PR packages from high profile media and sought-after publicists.
In addition, the winner will receive strategic grant, award and festival application support, and a full review of assets including biography, press imagery and digital presence.
It will also include a tailored mentoring package of one-on-one sessions with experienced and successful members of the Australian music and entertainment industry.
“Over the last nine years Bleach* has been committed to supporting local artists through creative developments, building the profile of local artists, mentoring and providing opportunities like the annual festival to showcase their work to a local audience,” said Bleach* The Gold Coast Festival, CEO and Artistic Director, Rosie Dennis.
“It’s hugely important to keep our talent employed in their home town and support home grown artists by giving them a platform to tell their story in this city”.
Rolling out the red carpet on the iconic Surfers Paradise beachfront 30 April, the Gold Coast Music Awards celebrates the City’s rising stars with 8,000+ people expected to attend the free outdoor concert on Surfers Paradise LIVE’s main festival stage, featuring PACES, Tijuana Cartel and Felicity Lawless.
The Gold Coast Music Awards ceremony will take place Thursday 30 April on the beach at Surfers Paradise. Tickets on sale 5 March.
The Gold Coast Music Awards is proudly supported by City of Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise Alliance.
